The work you see here is both an instinctive and experimental exploration of forms and textures. I am fascinated in how different materials interact – oils, acrylics and water all vying for their place on the canvas. The clash; the merging; the juxtaposition of their materiality to create various notions of perception. The works are often evocative of landscape, yet are not limited to it.
I think in this digital-age, our vision is often too easily sated without discernment. I am actually more interested in the illusory spaces created between the colours, and I am continually shifting my perspective from the minute to the ethereal. What may look tranquil from afar is actually the result of hard-fought battle of materiality.
These works are yours to view as you please; from afar as gentle forms, as well as up close where the dynamic interrelation is more evident. As in everything, I can control what my art projects but not how it is perceived.
